LIVING ROOM DÉCOR WITH AIR PURIFYING PLANTS

Image
LIVING ROOM DÉCOR WITH AIR PURIFYING PLANTS Before the eighties plants were relegated to home gardens or plant nurseries. It was during the late eighties that the NASA Clean Air Study project stated plants could help in reducing both outdoor and indoor pollution. They specified a few indoor plants which could help in reducing air pollution by removing the toxins present in our homes. This study has brought about a paradigm shift in the mindset of people. Now, these plants adorn our homes and offices.  Along with cleaning the air, these air-purifying plants help in reducing stress, increase oxygen levels, reduce carbon dioxide and airborne dust, increase humidity and lower indoor air temperatures. Both the principles of Feng Shui and Vastu believe these plants help in enhancing the positive energy and bringing good luck in the house. Toxins like benzene, formaldehyde, xylene, ammonia which are released by carpet, upholstery, furnishings, paints, cleaning- products which are li...

Since my early childhood days I was exposed to different kinds of music, devotional, Bollywood, classical and English rock, pop, folk and country music. I developed an ear for English music which was my mood elevator at all times. It could uplift my spirits both in happiness and sadness. It has been my constant companion in life. The best, non-addictive medicine  for the heart and soul. I am a romantic by heart who is addicted to soft, sentimental numbers. The music of the fifties to the seventies has been my personal favourite .Let me give you an insight of the famous singers from the fifties to the seventies.  Do-Re-Mi from the famous movie The Sound of Music sung by  Rodgers & Hammerstein .  The Sound of Music was released in  1965 this is an  American musical drama...

THE STONEHEART

Image
Army wives are considered as they are the main force behind their success as they support them through thick and thin. Armymen who lay their lives for the country are said to be true sons of the soil. But I call myself a Stoneheartas my better half is as concerned with earth materials that can be used for economic and/or industrial purposes.part of the soil, he lives for the soil, of the soil and by the soil for only. You may have guessed it by now he is a Geologist who studies the earth, including the materials that it is made of, the physical and chemical changes that occur on its surface and in its interior, and the history of the planet and its life forms. I play second fiddle in his life as his first love is ROCKS. As he DATES ROCKS he remains evergreen and young. He never loses his LUSTER. I am now a LIVING FOSSIL. His life is all about ROCKS and BEDROCKS. A Geologist can never be perfect as he has too many FAULTS. He has only one hobby of ROCK CLIMBING. My life is centred around...

Figure Woes

Image
I look in the mirror And what do I see A strange-looking person That surely cannot be me. For, I am much younger And not nearly so fat As that strange face in the mirror That I am looking at. Oh, where are those mirrors That I used to know Like the ones which were made Some thirty years ago. I got a shock when I looked in the mirror ,I just  couldn't recognize myself. I had become a piece of tubby lard with wisps of white in my hair. The double chin, the neck hung like a dewlap, the waist was a mass of tiers. The pince-nez on the nose gave me the old marm look. I looked short and portly. No wonder my daughter had shrieked seeing me today. She had lectured me to eat healthy and stay in shape as most of her friend's mothers looked well turned out and could be mistaken for elder sisters accompanying their daughters. They seemed to be ageless, while I looked hideous in their presence. She hated accompanying me whenever I wanted to go to the market. What had happened to me? I had been ...

FAMILY MUSIC MANIA IN THE EIGHTIES

Image
Listening to music has been an integral part of my life since childhood. Music to me is like breathing, as one can't stop breathing one can't stop listening to music. Music is said to be the medicine of the mind and I come from a family of music maniacs. Each of us has our own taste which has created conflicts in the house, It started with Guglielmo Marconi's radio invention,  My father's the vintage possession the Murphy Radio adorned our living room. It looked regal placed in its wooden radio box. Most middle-class people possessed it and enjoyed listening to their favourite programs on the radio. I was in middle school when I developed a craze for English music and tried to do my school work listening to the radio, while I wanted to listen to the latest English hits my father wanted to listen to the news and mom wanted to listen to the Hindi Bollywood numbers while doing her household chores. It was a competition of changing different stations as each person wanted...
